The Fayou Family

Welcome to our large and happy family.

The Fayou Family has 10 original members.  The youngest of our family are Aicha (5), Fatima (8) and Said (11).  They help our family by making toys and crafts to sell to tourists.  However most of their time is spent playing, unfortunately there is no school locally.

Next is Zahara (14) and Khadija (16) who really help out around the house.  They are responsible for the laundry, cooking, cleaning and collecting water.  They are certainly worth their weight in gold!

Mohammed (20) will be your guide, he is responsible for the families 3 camels and leads guests through the spectacular local landscape.  He is closely helped by Youssef (a dear friend of the family).

Erkia (22) lives in the nearby village of Hasi L'bid with her husband Lahssan, their baby Ismail and her 4 step children Erkia, Ahmed, Ali and Abraham.

The eldest son Youssef met Loretta in 2005.  They married in 2008 and now live in England where they look after the website and organise reservations for the family.

Bedda will look after most of your domestic needs and runs the home.  L'ho looks after the tent in the Erg Chebi and farms locally to provide the family with wheat for their freshly cooked bread and to provide an extra income for the family.

In addition to the people in our family we also have 3 camels, a donkey (Arthur) and some sheep.

We built our modest home ourselves and add rooms as necessary.  What started as a one room home now has 4 rooms and a toilet and washroom.  The guest room has a warm ambiance and is decorated with homemade traditional berber crafts.

We look forward to meeting you.
